Sailing Attractions around the Elaphites

Islands
The finest Dubrovnik archipelago, Elaphiti Islands, are located on the western side of Dubrovnik. The islands offer idyllic atmosphere, hospitality of the people and crystal clear sea with beautiful sandy beaches and hidden bays. Three main islands are Šipan, Lopud, Koločep. Šipan is the largest and most heavily settled. It has two little ports, Suđurađ and Šipan harbour. Lopud and Koločep are entirely car-free, and have true sandy beaches, very shallow ones, perfect for children and the popular local ball game called picigin. The famous Blue Cave on the Koločep island can be accessed by swimming on the south side of the island from one of the hidden bays. The clear blue sea surrounds the island. Koločep has always been known as an island of fishermen and coral-divers.

Šunj Beach
Šunj Beach Šunj beach is beautiful sandy beach located on the south side of the Lopud island near Dubrovnik. It is almost 1 km long and also very shallow, so you have to walk almost 100 meters to be able to swim. It is perfect for families with children, but also ideal for playing picigin, Croatian favorite summer sport. The sea in the Šunj bay is warm and crystal clear. The north end of the beach is nudist-friendly. According to a local legend, if you bathe with your loved one from Šunj, you’ll never part. There are two small beach restaurant/snack bars, which provide simple food dishes and cool refreshments. The beach doesn’t provide any natural shade shelter, so you can rent beach umbrellas.
